Pre-Press Typesetter and Graphic Designer
Job description
Warwick Publishing (St. Charles, IL) is looking for a Pre-Press Typesetter and Product Designer to join our team.
Reporting to the Pre-Press and Artwork Department Supervisor, the Typesetter and Designer is responsible for processing and typesetting existing artwork for active orders and designing new artwork, production layouts, and assisting with product prototyping as demand requires. Daily tasks involve heavy usage of Adobe’s software suite and light usage of Warwick’s proprietary operations software mixed with physical job tickets, samples, and production plates/dies.
This position’s daily mix between production-based typesetting versus new artwork, layout, and prototype design is heavily dependent on Warwick’s seasonality. As a late third and fourth quarter business, the daily mix in the fall and winter is tilted heavily towards the production side, whereas the remaining 8 months of the year are roughly balanced between production and design work.
Responsibilities include:
- Typeset new order artwork onto production templates
- Process completed artwork templates through any other necessary pre-press steps
- Design new artwork for product samples and for customer mock-ups
- Draft production layouts for custom products and stock product variations
- Draft prototype artwork, layouts, and designs in conjunction with upper management
- Design marketing materials in tandem with Warwick’s Sales and Marketing Team
- Support other Pre-Press/Artwork Department responsibilities as time permits
Qualifications:
- Prior work experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong attention to written and visual details
- Comfortable working with both Mac and Windows computers
Desired Experience:
- Prior experience in print production or quality control of printed and/or foil stamped products
- Prior experience/exposure to the promotional product industry
- Prior experience in product design
Please include your design portfolio when applying.
