Position Summary

Pinehurst Medical Clinic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care team in Pinehurst, NC. This position plays a key role in patient care by working in collaboration with a supervising physician. Emphasis on patient care, stable acute illness reprieve, health promotion, and illness/injury prevention. Coordinates staffing and orientation of assigned team members. Plans and conducts ongoing education and training. Maintains infection control/safety standards, and is committed to providing and promoting patient-centered communication and care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, and compliance with the care plan, and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, and suturing wounds.
• Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
• Makes responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
• Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
• Documents patient information and care provided in the patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
• Develops as-needed health education programs and materials
• Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Educates patients and families as appropriate. Provides continuity of care.
• Consults with other staff as necessary.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):

• Must have an active license to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina as a Registered Nurse. Must have written approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or current North Carolina PA license, certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• BLS/CPR Certification required

Experience:

• Prior experience in an NP or PA in a primary care setting preferred
