Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of the manager, the Lead Physical Therapist evaluates patients and plans. Implements and modifies treatment programs, utilizes community resources, participates in discharge planning, performs administrative duties, participates in performance improvement, pursues professional growth, assists with student education, oversees the work of aides, PTA, volunteers, and students, and when need arises will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. The Lead Physical Therapist will have the additional responsibilities as follows:

  • Will function as the PT scheduling coordinator.
  • Coordination of new PT staff mentorship and orientation including agency staff and travelers.
  • Clinical resource for PT staff.
  • Ensures quality of clinical practice, ie: documentation, evidence based practice, and adherence to professional practice act.
  • Will coordinate PT meeting as needed with group facilitation, team building and education.
  • Program/project development as assigned by department supervisor or director.

  • Communicates PT staff concerns to supervisor/director.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Physical Therapist, BLS certification required.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Minimum of two years acute care experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate with patients using auditory Input and Output.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Doctorate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
  • National Certified Occupational Therapist (NBCOT), or Occupational Therapy (OT), or Licensed Physical Therapy

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

Our 42-bed licensed rehabilitation hospital, along with our rehab unit at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center (PSL), specializes in treatment of conditions such as: stroke, brain injury, neurologic conditions, orthopedic injuries, spine injuries, amputations, and other disabling medical conditions. Spalding hosts the only dedicated Controlled Stimulation Unit for brain injury in the state of Colorado. Each rehabilitation program is customized to the individual patient's cognitive and physiological needs and can include one or more types of therapy.
