Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing Physical Therapy services to guests by assisting in the treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication while functioning under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Physical Therapist Assistant Responsibilities:

• Provides Physical Therapy services to guests in accordance with established standards of practice, department procedures, and productivity standards.
• Conducts treatments as assigned by the Physical Therapist and outlined in the treatment plan that includes but is not limited to areas of muscle strength, coordination, mobility, sensory awareness, sitting and standing, transfer training, balance activities, gait training, range of motion activities and modalities.
• Assists in the selection of Physical Therapy techniques and in the sequence of activities and adapt techniques as indicated by guest performance and following consultation with the Physical Therapist. No major modification to the treatment plan is made without prior consultation with the Physical Therapist.
• Participates in guest, family, and staff education.
• Documents results of guest’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services. Adheres to Therapy Department procedures regarding documentation of Physical Therapy services.
• Accurately and efficiently utilizes documentation and billing software to record guest treatment, labor, and CPT codes.

Physical Therapist Assistant Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Physical Therapist Assistant licensure.
• A minimum of 1 years experience in a Skilled Nursing setting preferred.
• Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and CPR certification required.
