Peer Support Specialist: Part-Time

Job Title: Peer Support Specialist

Job Class: Peer Services (Part-Time, Approx 20 Hours)

Reports to: Peer Services Manager

Position Summary

The Peer Support Specialist works directly with members, staff and family members in support of services provided by Turning Point Foundation and to encourage member self empowerment.
Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in recovery and/or psychosocial rehabilitation and the ability to articulate our core values
  • Has completed RICA or equivalent Peer Counseling training or has experience as a peer counselor or demonstrated abilities to become a peer counselor. Training as a peer counselor highly desirable
  • Demonstrate creativity and flexibility by initiating a wide range of consumer-driven groups and activities based on the Wellness and Recovery Action Plan to meet the diverse needs of the members.
  • Valid California Drivers License
  • Basic Life Support certification (can be earned after hire on site)
  • HHS/OIG cleared (must be able to pass background check)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Knowledge of community resources and other systems useful to mental health consumers
  • Willingness to self-identify as a consumer of mental health services

Salary:

  • Hourly: $17.50-$19.50 per hour
  • Bilingual bonus available
