Overview:
The Payroll Technician II under general supervision will independently provide a range of professional and technical support to the Payroll Department. Responsibilities include a full range of moderately complex payroll transactions with a greater degree of independence. The Payroll Technician II position is a combination of customer service and payroll special project management skills, with work usually performed without direct verification and check. This position may also work with state agencies and third-party administrators, provide training to other payroll office staff, run queries & validate results, and prepare spreadsheets.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs a series of responsible, complex technical-clerical tasks as part of the payroll team. Prepares, processes, and maintains payroll documents while performing related multiple payroll assignments.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and train as it relates to payroll.
  • Point of contact for internal and external auditors.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- (verbal, electronically, written),
  • Applies advanced skills in area of specialized reports.
  • May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to
  • meet special needs.
  • Duties and tasks are varied and moderately complex. Resolves most questions and problems; refers only the most complex issues to higher
  • Develops schedules and methods to accomplish assignments ensuring
  • work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • May periodically assist in Orientation, training, assigning, and checking the work of level 1 employees.
  • Required High School Diploma; 2-year degree a plus.
  • Required: 4-7 years customer service.
  • Organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines; establish and
  • maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Transportation industry experience preferred.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have excellent attendance record.
  • Experience working with and on teams.
