Job description
We’re looking for a supervisor of our Payables team who will be responsible for the direct supervision of our Payables Specialists. You will manage a roughly $6 million per year travel program and SEI accounts payable. You will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the team on a continual basis to support the SEI’s technical mission and comply with all policies and regulations. You will be the primary escalation point for unique scenarios that arise in the payables team. You have a strong attention to detail, enjoy problem solving and are eager to help others. Your knowledge of our online booking tool, Concur, will be vital to supporting the team as well as the SEI community with our travel needs. Your communication skills will ensure the SEI is well trained and informed while your inquisitive nature will ensure you stay on top of current regulations and advise staff on application of the regulations.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field

Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities
-
Experience with Conur, or similar travel booking tool
-
Experience with enterprise-wide financial systems
-
Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting and discussing interpretive reports
What you’ll do:
-
Supervise the SEI Payable’s team operations and oversee the work of the team members.
-
Oversee the timely and accurate processing of all functions of the team as well as compliance with applicable regulations.

Directly handle any issues that require escalation, review exceptions to policies, and provide recommendations to leadership

Provide advice and guidance to SEI staff, including senior leadership regarding travel compliance and invoice processing.

Work collaboratively with the financial analyst team, human resources, security, and CMU partners

Develop and deliver training to new staff members as well as refresher training related to SEI Travel tools and regulations.

Ensure all policy changes are identified, communicated to the SEI, included in training for new hires, and accessible through the Payable’s team internal website.

Establish a strong collaborative network with CMU leads in procurement and accounts payable.

Identify opportunities for efficiencies in both business process as well as system functionalities.

Mentor and train new and existing staff members, identifying opportunities for professional development.

Understand and implement all regulations associated with foreign travel on federal contracts and ensure all necessary documentation for international trips are completed prior to the start of the trip.

Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports.

Desired Experience:

Bachelor’s degree

8-10 years’ experience in a travel agency, finance or related field

Prior supervisory experience
-
Prior experience in higher education and/or federal contracting is strongly preferred
