Scope of Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) operates hospital-based clinics for the prevention, diagnosis treatment of cancer or related blood diseases. Patients are seen in clinics located within the hospital and at established outreach sites. Clinic hours are 8 am - 5 pm M-F but expansion of hours and weekend/holiday work may be required dependent upon patient volume and complexity of care. The applicant may work in any of the clinics operated by Ambulatory Services, but will be utilized in one area as much as possible. The Patient Care Associate (PCA) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. Position Summary

The PCA is responsible for providing safe patient care and comfort measures throughout the patient’s clinic appointment including arrival and discharge. The PCA facilitates movement of patients through the clinic. Orders supplies and stocks exam rooms, maintains patient’s medical records, schedules appointments and answers phones when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or GED certificate required. One year of experience as a hospital aide, EMT certification, completion of a military corpsman training program with direct patient care experience required or successful completion of PCA training course required. Experience in an acute care environment preferred.
