  Patient Advocate

This position is for our Timonium location only.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who have completed studies in a mental health field and are in the process of furthering their education and/or certification or licensure. The Patient advocate role is a social worker/counselor lite position.

The role involves directly supporting our clients through an Urgent Care model that provides short term therapy services and/or appropriate referral to support an individual’s mental health needs. Duties include: warm referrals, patient outreach, assisting with patient care under the direction of the treating provider, assisting providers with caseloads by reviewing upcoming discharges to maintain a 48 hour accessibility, as well as maintaining relations with other medical organizations to build referral pipelines .

Additional Patient Advocate Job Duties:

  Compassionate patient relations during mental health services
• 
  Assist with patient coordination of care on a treatment team
• 
  Ability to multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
• 
  Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
• 
  Ability to exercise good judgment in a clinical setting and brainstorm around treatment needs
• 
  Serve as a liaison between patients and their families, physicians, nurses, other medical staff, insurance companies and all other parties involved in patient care
• 
  Assist providers with Emergency Petitions (EP), and remain calm in crisis situations
• 
  Provide assistance with patient balances
• 
  Outgoing and comfortable talking with outside organizations regarding our Urgent Care Model
• 
  Key lead for Urgent Care hotline
• 
  Be an integral part of marketing and marketing events (such as the Out of Darkness walks and mental health fairs)

• 
  Excellent computer skills with experience using Google Suite and electronic medical databases

Qualifications:

• 
  
  Minimum 1 year clerical/medical office work required
• 
  Strong customer service skills and excellent at working with a variety of clientele
• 
  Comfortable answering phone calls live and talking to patients on the phone
• 
  Ability to Multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
• 
  Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
• 
  Exercise good judgment
• 
  Excellent computer skills with experience using Google Suite and electronic medical databases
• 
  Must be a self-starter while also able to work as part of a team
• 
  AA degree

• 
  Experience in the related field such as mental health, social work, or health administration
