This role is part-time at our Evan Williams Bourbon Experience location in Louisville, KY. Primarily daytime hours with a requirement to work 3 out of 4 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) per month. Pay: $18.00/hr

What the Role Is

The Retail Assistant will be responsible for delivering remarkable customer service by providing customers with exceptional product knowledge, efficient service and a friendly attitude. This individual will be exposed to a variety of tasks related to product, customer service and merchandising. The Retail Assistant will serve customers, receive deliveries, stock shelves, and assist with inventory as required.

How You Will Spend Your Time? (Responsibilities)

• Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs
• Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers
• Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires
• Ensure that cash registers are staffed at all times, compute sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit card payments
• Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
• Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions and policies regarding payments, exchanges and security practices
• Assist Retail Manager with stocking product and maintaining product displays according to merchandising standards per the plan-o-grams provided
• Assist with stock movement from storage to retail store, ensuring that all in-stock merchandise is readily available
• Replenish merchandise to sales floor and rotate stock as required or as new merchandise arrives
• Receive and accept stock deliveries, confirming quantities, inspecting and receiving in inventory system
• Assist with inventory cycle counts and other inventory processes as required
• Ensure the store is kept clean, tidy and merchandised according to established standards
• Print daily replenishment report and distribute to appropriate personnel
• Communicate stock adjustments for shrinkage, breakage and sampling
• Describe tour points of interest to group members, and respond to questions
• Monitor visitors' activities to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety practices
• Provide directions and other pertinent information to visitors
• Greet and register visitors, and issue any required identification badges or safety devices
• Work in our retail store and perform light janitorial duties
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Who You Are… (Requirements & Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years' of related retail experience
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and technology, including cash registers, point-of-sale systems, etc.
• Possess basic math and reading skills
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, with the ability to deliver remarkable customer service
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to talk to others, conveying information effectively
• Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people
• Basic knowledge and comfort level with computer systems and technology, including cash registers, point-of-sale systems, etc.
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team and be a self-starter
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

• Previous work experience in a visitor center, tourist attraction or retail gift shop
• Familiarity with bourbon knowledge and language

Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
