Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists in Stantec's Water Sector for a highly motivated on-site Resident Engineer (Part-Time) with civil engineering and construction experience for the construction of a new weir opening between three rivers (the Arkansas River, the White River, and the Mississippi River) to establish a stable grade for controlling flows between the White and Arkansas Rivers. The project site is located in Arkansas and Desha Counties, near Tichnor, Arkansas. This position will be based out of the project site.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will use their civil engineering, construction management experience, and technical abilities to provide full-time onsite service to fulfill specification requirements and represent the Engineer’s interests during construction. The duties for the Resident Engineer include:

  • Interpretation of design documents
  • Review of construction submittals
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Observance of construction activities in accordance with submittals and specifications
  • Participate in project meetings
  • Maintain detailed project records
  • Liaison with Engineer(s) of record and the Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Manager
  • Detailed project reporting
  • Development of construction record drawings and close out documentation

Qualifications

  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) able to work well with others and/or lead teams.
  • Ability to work cohesively with a diverse range of personalities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Detail oriented person capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Understands project budgeting, scheduling, and delivery processes.
  • Experience in relevant areas of design and understanding of various construction means and methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Adobe/Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Masters of Science in Civil Engineering or Masters in Business or Public Administration, from an accredited institution preferred. Minimum of 20 years of experience or the combination of education and experience is preferred. Design, construction, and management experience is preferred.

Typical construction environment working at a remote, rural site and working with computers and sitting at a desk in a construction trailer. Field work will likely include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
