The Essential Purpose of the Operations Manager is to assist in ensuring that the front office department operates in an efficient and optimal manner. The incumbent will be expected to customarily and regularly use discretion and independent judgment in performing the job duties and will direct the work of two or more employees.

The expected base wage range for this position is: $65,000 to $67,500 annually. This position may be eligible for additional compensation according to the Company’s policies, as they may be amended from time to time.

The Essential Duties are:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • To hire, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to his/her position, to maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
  • To diplomatically and effectively handle all guest complaints, referring guests to Director of Operations/General Manager if necessary.
  • To maximize hotel revenue through salesmanship, status control, and maintenance of the "Yield Management" system.•To monitor and control guestroom inventory.
  • To produce periodic reports for the purpose of tracking performance goals, guest history, business sources, and profitability and marketing strategies.
  • To continually monitor and control departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining annual budget.
  • To maintain excellent communication with the housekeeping department.
  • To be completely familiar with hotel emergency procedures, and provide calm reassuring assistance to guests and fellow employees in the event of an emergency.
  • To ensure proper handling of guest check-ins, check-outs. Including welcoming guests; establishing credit, accurately entering information in PMS; and ensuring guest satisfaction with rooms.
  • To assist with guest billing and OTA/third party billing
    To perform cashiering duties including deposits, bank audits, drops & petty cash
  • To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, credit, and gift certificate
    transactions.
  • To assist Director of Operations with groupblocks, inquiries & group rooming lists.
  • To properly document Personnel/Payroll transactions, as directed, for processing in the
    Personnel office.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor’s degree in Hotel or Business Management, or
equivalent experience, required. English fluency required. Must have minimum three years’
experience in hotel front desk position, including one year in a managerial capacity. Familiar with
OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing handling
of hazardous substances.

SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Safety minded.
High quality standards for production and service. Good team player. Customer service
focus. Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works indoors throughout shift, in temperature-controlled, clean, and
well-lighted office and Front Desk area. Bi-level structures. Extensive facility

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks short to long distances approximately 60% of shift. Sits at desk or
in meetings approximately 40% of shift. Moderate use of phones, daily. Uses personal computer
approximately 25% of shift. Frequent use of stairs, daily. Must be flexible to work long, sometimes
irregular hours. Must be able to work well under pressure.
