OPERATIONS LAUNCH MANAGER JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Launch Manager is responsible for partnering with the Operations Directors, plant leaders and other functional leaders for leading the operational aspects of program launches. This includes new program launches, major model change events in existing plants, and plant turn around activities. Manage project planning, timing milestones, and coordinate all resources and activities to support the various forms of launch projects.

Leads operational strategies by analyzing trends; preparing critical measurements; implementing production, productivity, quality, customer-service, safety, security, and leading process improvements. Lead the development and implementation of operational strategies and initiatives in line with customer contracts and overall business strategy. Responsibility for analyzing and improving operational processes to facilitate productivity, efficiency, safety, and quality. Support the Kaizen Roadmap deployment across all plant locations by providing training, follow-up, improvements, and recognition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead launch readiness - Act as main Operations point of contact for launch execution of the various launches across our plants. • Facilitate plant level launch teams - communicate program information and coordinate activities between the teams. • Provide periodic reports and effectively communicate program launch status. • Organize build events and burst builds by coordinating cross functional resources to ensure participation and proper coverage to meet milestones.

  • Develop risk mitigation plans –engage with key stakeholders to proactively identify critical risks. • Provide leadership and support plants to achieve daily production requirements, delivery, and quality for plants in turn around conditions. • Provide leadership and guidance to plant teams for operational excellence and through project management and training. • Build and improve relationships across all plants, and functional teams.
  • Directs, guides & motivates to reach plant goals and objectives. • Review all plant KPI’s/PPI’s and drive action to improve them as well as follow-up on countermeasures as required. • Support the development of new processes and technology to improve operational excellence. • Support and lead special projects as needed.
  • Lead by example: on the floor, coaching, mentoring all levels of operations. Cultivate our culture, encourage cross functional teamwork, and develop strong operations leaders. • Ensure the teams have the tools to perform their jobs. • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or other related field is required TRAVEL: • Travel Required: Yes, up to 3 weeks per month. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Strong experience in and demonstrated understanding of automotive industry product launches, manufacturing operations, supply chain, lean processes, and risk management. • Ability to communicate and collaborate across different stakeholders. • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills, specifically financial analysis and managing overall program and plant launch activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to bring structure to complex problems. • Good business acumen. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong computer skills and expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task. • Detail-oriented and highly organized. • Tact, a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus. • Experience with IATF 16949, ISO9001 and other customer specific requirements.
