Operations Director- Physician Practice
Premier Health Associates is a fully integrated, physician-owned, and managed healthcare organization committed to providing the highest quality of care in the most cost-efficient manner within the communities where our patients live. Premier serves patients with 13 locations throughout Sussex, Warren and Morris Counties in NJ, and Pike County PA. The practice includes Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Rheumatology, Endocrinology Pulmonology, Interventional Pain Management, Chiropractic. In addition to professional services, Premier Health has an accredited ASC as part of the practice and successfully participates in commercial and Medicare value-based care models.
Significant growth initiatives are in place which now require the addition of a new position. The individual we seek is a skilled leader and experienced healthcare professional to fully support current operations and practice growth.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Practice Operations is responsible for overall operational, financial, quality and service performance in the various physician practice locations. The Director of Practice Operations, under the direction of the Executive Director, will play a role in creating and executing plans and implementing strategies to promote Board initiatives, improve quality and practice performance. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the incumbent will have support and autonomy to handle current challenges and projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs all functions of clinical sites, ASC and value-based care department operations.
- Establishes budgeted staffing level for each assigned practice, works in close concert with direct reports including Operations Manager, Clinical Manager to recruit, select and hire staff. Works with Human Resources to resolve employee relations issues and develop performance improvement plans.
- Evaluates practice efficiency including all personnel (physicians, clinical and administrative support staff) utilizing accepted quality measures, productivity standards, skill mix comparisons, and patient satisfaction survey data.
- Accountability for key operational metrics.
- Directs Operations Manager and Clinical Manager, to address and respond to patient care needs and issues, implement new operational models and structures to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance service to patients.
- Ensures compliance with all organizational, state, federal and local regulations, laws, standards and protocols.
- Authors policies and procedures relevant to areas of responsibility.
- Participates on committees as assigned.
- Serve as additional compliance plan trainer and contact for compliance reporting.
- Supports culture of respect, integrity, personal growth, and excellence.
- Promotes an environment conducive to the implementation of organizational changes.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Knowledge of healthcare system, billing process, clinical procedures, staffing models and Healthcare regulations.
- Exceptional skills in business analysis and/or financial management.
- Detail-oriented and outcome driven.
- Ability to manage large projects with team members across multiple departments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with a wide range of constituents.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Good technical/computer skills and organizational skills. Previous EMR, and Microsoft business applications.
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience writing policy and procedures.
- Ability to function effectively within an ever-changing environment and to meet deadlines and reprioritize as necessary.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment and a multi-dimensional environment.
- Creative, flexible, self-motivated, professional must possess sound judgment ability to plan and initiate new activities consistent with achieving service excellence.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent amount of education and experience, Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
· Experience: Minimum of 7-9 years of management/leadership experience in healthcare. Emphasis on physician practice operations. Previous experience with Merges and acquisitions preferred.
· CMPE/FACMPE -plus
· Lean Sigma Certification-plus
