POSITION SUMMARY

TRC has an immediate need for an Office Practice Lead in our Cary, NC Office to lead and grow a diverse team of Geologists, Scientists and Engineers. This position will be supporting our Environmental Engineering, Construction and Remediation practice. The ideal candidate must have 15-20 years' experience in the environmental field, including 10+ years of developing client relationships in the North Carolina environmental market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Lead the Cary Environmental team maintaining quality and profitability on TRC's projects. Successfully manage the profit and loss in a consulting business operation.
  • Assist with managing and developing the skill sets of Project Managers and other employees and resources to ensure our projects are executed with a high level of efficiency and technical excellence.
  • Support and develop new business opportunities, and deliver responsive, high quality environmental compliance and/or investigation and remediation consulting services.
  • Manage budget, scope and schedule development, monitoring and adherence for projects.
  • Work with senior management, market directors and project managers on strategic pursuits, including proposal development and client meetings, and help to maintain strong relationships with key planning leaders within the region.
  • Lead Quality Analysis/Quality Control of key deliverables related to projects and tasks managed, as well as projects and tasks managed by others. Responsible for implementation of firm quality procedures at project and task levels.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical documents and reports.
  • Identify and market new clients.
  • Maintain and grow existing client accounts.
  • Mentor project managers, engineers and environmental staff.
  • Review RFQs and prepare proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • B.S. in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Geology/Earth Sciences and/or Environmental Sciences.
  • 15-20 years consulting firm experience managing and delivering environmental due diligence, remediation and/or environmental compliance services.
  • Ability to prepare and implement a Business Plan with at least 10 years' experience in successfully managing profit and loss in a consulting operation.
  • Ability to prepare and implement a Marketing Plan with a strong track record of selling compliance/remediation services to municipal government/public sector, manufacturing, industrial, and/or transportation sectors.
  • Strong project management, staff management, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to interface and develop a rapport and positive relationship with our clients and employees.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven success leading project teams and marketing new clients with verifiable client relationships in the mid- Atlantic market; especially in North Carolina.
  • Experience creating budgets and successfully maintaining project and office budgets.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
