Program Description:
MSCR Mobile Clay Program will be a free source of clay activities and exposure to the potters’ wheel that provides creative, hands-on experiences to adult and youth (ages 3+) community members throughout the Madison Metropolitan School District.
Job Description & Duties:
Work with co-instructor to setup and oversee the Mobile Clay Connect Program in its pilot year by making clay activities accessible to all Madison families throughout the summer. Job Duties are:
- Drive 15 passenger van to 1-2 Madison parks each week
- Collaborate with Mobile Clay Program Instructor to setup and implement easily adaptable clay activities in a variety of Madison parks
- Organize, request, and maintain supplies
- Communicate clearly with participants
- Communicate openly with both Pottery Coordinator and Arts Supervisor
- Create an encouraging, inclusive environment – all are welcome!
- Facilitate clay activities for 3-5 y/o, 5-8 y/o and 8 y/o to adults
- Ability to lift 25 lbs of supplies or equipment
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions
- Must be creative and flexible
- Must be outgoing and able to engage with a diverse population
- Must be proven to be reliable and able to work independently

Work Location:
- City of Madison Parks
Hours/week:
- 6 - 12 hours
Work hours:
- 8am-1pm
- 12pm-5pm
- 4pm-8pm
Application Deadline:
- Open Until Filled
Payrate: $22-$24/hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with clay
- Understands how to store, maintain and reclaim clay for use
- Proficient at throwing - centering, opening and pulling
- Comfortable demonstrating how to throw on the pottery wheel
- Must be comfortable driving 15 passenger van
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions
- Must be creative and flexible
- Must be outgoing and able to engage with a diverse population
- Must be proven to be reliable and able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching pottery classes
- Past experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to communicate with Spanish speakers
