This is a full time, Salary exempt position.
MAIN FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, this an intermediate position within the North American Carbohydrate Solutions group. This position will be responsible for procurement of raw materials to achieve optimum financial results. The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with both external and internal customers, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues. The position requires a higher level of strategic thinking, market knowledge, trading acumen and employee development. This role will mainly focus on corn procurement for our Clinton corn processing plant.
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:
University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of one (1) years’ experience in commodity merchandising. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment. Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international trade. Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers. Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Applications within a windows based operating environment. Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies and safety programs.

- Actively participates in all aspects of marketing within the regional truck, rail, vendors and customers
- Develops key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM facilities and market access, an understanding and awareness of market requirements and facilitate the effectiveness of ADM assets
- Able to prepare and analyze basic profit and loss and other divisional reports
- Strategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assets
- Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of customers, including premium and volume accounts
- Understands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both companies
- Is able to prepare & present reports to management detailing customer issues and opportunities
- Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in files
- Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
- Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
- Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
- Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
- Develops a clear understanding of local, national, world market, and trends
- Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information
- Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
- Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing
- Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. barges, trucks and railcars) and how to enhance value
- Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies, safety systems, trainings and programs
- Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
- Constantly works on individual and personal development within the company
- Develops good understanding of local plant operations
- Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities
- Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office and other locations

- Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends with limited travel required throughout the year
