As a Medical Writing Technology Lead working on the Medical Writing team, you will be empowered to provide leadership and expertise for Medical Writing technology strategy and initiatives to address business objectives.
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
- Defining and ensuring support is provided for Medical Writing systems
- Partners with key business users and IT to provide support for intended use of systems
- Supports definition and implementation of business processes
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide expert solutions, customer service, and troubleshooting with Microsoft SharePoint and the Microsoft Power platform
- Create/maintain automated workflows with applicable software application
- Support day to day operations of the team's process and integration via business process analysis
- Assist with computer system validation activities like creating user requirements, test scripts and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Create, and design dashboard by translating business requirements into technical requirements to implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions•Help visualize and develop a strategy for coming years regarding technology and solutions required to further automate writing, editing, and quality control activities
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
- Comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., clinical development, the prescription drug distribution process, etc)
- Current knowledge of industry developments and strategies related to clinical technologies.
- Understanding of industry standard technologies to support Clinical Development needs (e.g., CTMS, SAS, Data Warehouses, Sharepoint, etc)
- Knowledge of Sharepoint and various BI/Analytics tools like Qlik Sense, Tableau or Microsoft Power BI
Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to work across functions, regions and cultures
- Enterprise level leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate and drive results
- Excellent communicator, able to persuasively convey both ideas and data, verbally and in writing
- Ability to distill complex issues and ideas down to simple comprehensible terms
- Proven skills as an effective team player who can engender credibility and confidence within and outside the company
- May lead cross functional groups in identifying business requirements and technology capabilities to support medical writing (and beyond) needs
- Embraces and demonstrates a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors for the organization
- Ability to work in a global ecosystem (internal and external) with a high degree of complexity
- Breadth of knowledge required across therapeutic areas, indications, and/or modalities

- Ability to effectively implement R&D’s partnership strategy
- Effectively represent Takeda in high-level negotiations with the ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner
- Collaborates with business users and IT to identify and select technology solutions
- Ensures training of staff to optimally use technologies
- Delegates appropriate tasks to staff members and contractors to maximize effectiveness of the organization. Gives support, direction, and follow-up without undermining delegated authority
- Uses appropriate methods and interpersonal styles to develop, motivate, and guide team to success
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience is required
- 4+ years experience in a Clinical Research related field (Data Management, Programming, Clinical IT, Clinical Operations, Medical Writing or Medical Writing Operations)
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical technologies
- Ability to work independently, takes initiative, and complete tasks and make deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels of the organization with strong negotiation skills
Base Salary Range: $102,000-$146,000, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.
