Responsibilities:
MAJOR DUTIES:
1. Maintains close communication with various specialty clinics, including assigned professional personnel, to ensure that the scheduling and rescheduling of appointments is satisfactory and does not interfere with clinic functions, and is consistent with the schedules of attending professional staff. Completes necessary forms, records, and related material necessary to perform patient appointment duties. Searches patients medical records for specific information, e.g. birth date, social security number, address phone number, etc. Types forms, SOPs and other data requiring the services of a fully qualified typist.
2. Reviews and analyzes data to ascertain validity and accuracy of data. Must be familiar with workload reporting systems and applicable DA, MEDDAC, MEDCOM, and local policies and regulations. Performs total statistical analysis of data after reports are completed. Develops trend lines, identifies policy changes, meets with the department chief and supervisor to suggest courses of action and takes corrective action based on command decision.
3. Receives Radiology exams from outside clinics via mail and courier. Creates orders using CHCS and uploads said exams to our digital archiving system (PACS). Most uploads are on CD’s however, some will be on regular wet film. Maintaining the original report from the outside facility and then placing them in the patient’s medical records. Constantly checking the in house transcription system to ensure that all reads from the resident radiologist’s reports are viewable to requesting providers. Locating and verifying all necessary paperwork and films for the next day’s patients.
4. Schedules, cancels, modifies MRI appointments for BACH. Verifies patients’ eligibility for care. Coordinates with MRI Technologist in assigning proper exam type and length of appointment. Calls patients to change, cancel, and/or remind of upcoming appointments. Provides appointment procedure information to scheduling patients. Scans, reviews, makes appointments, and routes managed care MRI referrals as appropriate.
