Join a winning team! Encino Outpatient Surgery Center (EOSC) is hiring full-time front office receptionists. EOSC is a busy boutique outpatient surgical center with heavy emphasis on GI, pain management, ENT, and urology. Ideal candidates will have at least one year medical office experience. Hours are Monday through Friday. No weekends, call, or holidays. Days start and end early (typically 5am-1:30pm). Benefits package including health insurance and 401k as well as PTO and paid holidays for full-time employees. Salary commensurate with experience. Must be outgoing, energetic, and thrive in a busy outpatient surgical environment.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Office Receptionist serves patients and visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately; performs administrative tasks for the clinical team; handles insurance verification, insurance payments, and patient payments; and assists with the front and back office as needed. The Medical Office Receptionist reports to the Business Office Manager.
JOB DUTIES
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by checking in the patient for their procedure.
- Ensures all surgical packs are printed and readily available for chart creation.
- Creates charts for all cases that are scheduled each day.
- Ensures all patient demographics, history & physicals, authorizations, labs, and cardiac clearances are saved in the patient’s efile.
- Enters all patient demographics for scheduled patients in EMR system.
- Keeps patient procedures on schedule by notifying nurses of patient's arrival; reviewing chart paperwork of the patient; providing completed patient chart to the nurses.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, and by recording and collecting patient charges.
- Verifies insurance electronically and verbally. All verifications need to be completed 1 week prior to the procedure.
- Submits/requests medical information to/from physicians, insurance companies, vendors, etc. as required for treatment, payment, or health care operations.
- Confirms insurance payment amounts are correct and appeals for additional payment as needed.
- Maintains business office lobby by keeping the location clean and presentable. Keeps all of our usual operating and decorative lights on. Must always have a staff member at the front desk.
- Collaborates with our internet marketing service to keep information and content on company website current.
- Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED certificate recipient
- Four (4) year college degree or appropriate schooling with equivalent experience preferred (not required)
- One (1) year medical office experience desired
