- Greets all visitors and performs patient in-take for employees at the front desk
- Assists callers via phone and documents information to ensure the provider is notified of any correspondence from internal/external partners regarding patients
- Schedules appointments for clinic visits and coordinates scheduling appointments with community partners
- Maintains accurate inventory of all medical and office supplies, placing replenishment orders as needed
- Coordinates with the Risk Management Department for referrals to external provider for further evaluation or treatment when needed
- Handles correspondence for internal/external departments and medical records. Updating and electronically filing patient medical records.
- Handles patient records and release, following HIPPA guidelines and ensures all patient records are kept confidential.
- Reports immediately to provider of emergent situations (e.g. employee present with chest pain, shortness of breath, unconscious, etc)
- Obtains and documents vital signs. Reporting abnormalities as per provider
- Interviews and documents employees for case histories and key information prior to appointment
- Escorts patients to exam room and preps for examinations as needed
- Documents receipt of and transfer of all diagnostic results to the provider
- Maintain medical supplies which consist of inventorying, ordering, and monitoring for expiration dates.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- 2 years of experience in a clinical or administrative healthcare role;
- Current CMA or CMT certification;
- Understanding of basic medical terminology;
- Ability to proficiently obtain and record vital signs and medical histories;
- Proficient computer skills to include (Google and Microsoft Office suites)
- Ability to interact courteously and professionally with colleagues, internal and external contacts;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace;
- Experience applying specific policies or standards to daily work to assure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 50 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
- Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.

Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant works to insure that the employee health clinic functions as efficiently as possible, working closely with the Nurse Practitioner on a daily basis. The clinic provides first level care and triage for worker’s compensation injuries, first aid, and general practice as needed. The medical administrative assistant is cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties. The serve as a liaison for internal as an external inquires for the OKCPS Employee Health Clinic.
