Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be accepted and enrolled into an accredited Medical Assisting program, either certificate program or an associate degree program. Throughout the Apprenticeship, all courses including Skills Labs must be passed with a grade of C or better in order to remain in the Apprenticeship.

License/Certifications: Current BLS certification required prior to clinical rotation.

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant Apprentice for Western Maine Family Medicine will function in a training capacity, working alongside a mentor while completing their job responsibilities. The Apprentice will assist providers and the care team in the care of patients, promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office and help to create a calm, supportive atmosphere. The Apprentice will only perform set skills that they have completed in their skills lab with a passing grade and are qualified to perform alongside a mentor. These skills will include clinical and clerical duties as necessary to care for patients. They will be required to pay attention to detail and accuracy and conduct all interactions with patients and personnel in a courteous and respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality. The Apprentice is required to conduct all responsibilities consistent with policies, procedures, and in compliance with all applicable laws or mandates relating to patient care and activities.
