Job description
1. Purpose and Primary Objective of the Position

This job is responsible for manufacturing prototype parts to guarantee that the product complies with the standards indicated in the work order, customer blueprint and/or Dexter’s Engineering instructions in accordance with the engineering team's direction.

2. Essential Responsibilities
  • Cooperate with design engineers to construct prototype pieces that exemplify design ideas/concepts on plans.
  • Observe engineering documentation & instructions to build customer samples and other test samples.
  • Offer comments to design engineers concerning Bills of Materials, setup, validation, accessibility, and maintainability problems.
  • Work with production team to attain understanding on all the fabricating processes used in the prototype projects.
  • Produce prototype fabrications in a timely and quality manner.
  • Keep accurate records of all time and costs incurred in the fabrication of each prototype order.
  • Organize the build of prototype material; track progress of prototype builds to fulfill customer plans.
  • Inventory maintenance of prototype and production release components.
  • Conduct required inspections of conformance and promptly notify engineering team of any issues or discrepancies.
  • Process orders with minimal guidance.
  • Preserve a safe working environment through good housekeeping practices and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Assist with special projects and carry out other related duties as assigned.
  • ** Qualifications**

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is needed.
  • 2-3 years’ of relevant experience and/or training.
  • CAD software (Solidworks) is preferred
  • Basics of math associated with shop area are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Works in a clean, air-conditioned and well lit production environment- protective foot and eyewear required.- 70% Standing on cement floors with rubber mats, 10% Sitting, 10% Stooping and Bending and 10% Walking

    • Lift and transport an average weight 10 lbs., maximum 40 lbs.
    • Manual dexterity of both hands.
    • Near Visual Acuity (either corrected or uncorrected).
  • Ability to comprehend verbal direction and instruction. Ability to give feedback to engineers and brainstorm with others on the prototype team. Must be able to read, comprehend and abide by all quality and safety regulations.
