BWXT is currently seeking a Materials Procurement Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The Materials Procurement Engineer will support NOG-L production through interaction and coordination with key NOG-L material suppliers. This position requires travel with 10% - 20% of activities occurring onsite at suppliers.
Job Description/Duties:
- Authors technical work packages based on Customer requirements and provides them to suppliers.
- Leads and participates in NOG-L’s efforts to investigate and resolve technical and product issues at suppliers.
- Leads and participates in surveillances of key material suppliers to find potential issues and prevent errors, in support of the NOG-L mission. Surveillances will be technical and compliance-based in nature.
- Works closely with Procurement, Quality, and Management to address issues jointly.
- Performs other duties to support the group/mission such as trending, metric, development, etc.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Materials Science degrees preferred. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
- Must possess at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience with suppliers in the nuclear industry and familiarity with manufacturing processes desired.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with personnel at all levels of the organization internally as well as at suppliers.
- Must be able to travel to supplier sites.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
