Basic Function
The Marketing Specialist, Polymers will support commercial and marketing excellence in the North American Polyethylene & Polypropylene Businesses through analytical evaluations to deepen insights in key markets, identify opportunities/threats, improve reporting capabilities, and pursue value-adding projects. The Marketing Specialist will work in close collaboration with other PE & PP Business team members including Marketing Managers, Sales, ADTS/PAD, Planning, BDA, and CCE. A successful Marketing Specialist demonstrates strong analytical ability, ownership, effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain analytical models to understand addressable markets, regional and global market trends, competition and megatrends and assess new opportunities/threats. Stay informed through market research (studies, webinars, papers, articles). Work closely with PE & PP Marketing Managers and make recommendations to implement actions addressing findings.
- Contribute to the development of the Marketing Excellence segment strategies and facilitate disciplined execution through coordination of goals, action plans and performance tracking.
- Establish meeting cadence with Marketing lead, cross functional team (Sales, AD/TS, BDA, etc.) and key stakeholders to enable disciplined strategy execution, assess market realization and progress goals / gap closure.
- Conduct quarterly Marketing Excellence strategy review meetings with Polymers leadership and Marketing leads to provide updates on plan execution and financial impacts. Prepare quarterly reporting with Marketing Managers.
- Participate in long range/performance planning with BDA, Business Finance and Marketing. Develop working model(s) to consolidate Marketing Manager inputs on market segment volume and margin inputs, market drivers and assumptions to contribute to Polymers EBITDA plan. Coordinate efforts to achieve Marketing plan contributions.
- Trade flow reporting: Analyze and provide monthly updates on N. American imports and exports, utilize insights to inform recommendations on commercial strategies and tactics in consultation with Marketing.
- Compile and publish market updates (supply, demand, price, imports/exports) and communicate to the business using appropriate platforms (e.g., SalesForce) .
- Liaise with Customer and Commercial Excellence (CCE) and Polymers Marketing Managers to review Marketing processes, implement change and drive continuous improvement consistently across PE and PP.
- Support Marketing (Marketing Sr. Director, Marketing Managers) with structural and ad-hoc analysis and presentations for internal and external meetings (asset team meetings, BOT, sales meetings, customer meetings, etc.)
- Provide vacation coverage for Marketing Managers.
Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent required
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience with exposure to LYB Polymers business preferred.
- Team oriented to collaborate with other disciplines and support business objectives and goals.
- Critical thinking capabilities to assess needs, identify gaps, propose solutions.
- Results oriented with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines.
- Customer focused to deliver solutions that meet their needs in a timely manner.
- Sound business acumen to evaluate alternatives and deliver well-reasoned solutions.
- Process driven to facilitate and execute the market segment analyses within the Homburg methodology.
- Analytical skills to identify market sources, assemble data, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to produce high quality analyses and communicate results via presentation and in verbal formats to team and management.
- Advanced capability in Excel, knowledge of PowerBI and experience with Advanced Analytics preferred.
