Overview:
This position is responsible for the procurement of scrap metal for the Houston yard.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for entire process of procuring scrap metal from all generators, from quoting though payment.
- Develop and maintain existing customer relationships.
- Generate opportunities and build relationships with new and prospective customers.
- Retain and maintain profitable accounts within established pricing guidelines.
- Identify and implement margin opportunities with existing accounts.
- Take proactive measures to quickly resolve external/internal customer service issues.
- Complete paperwork to meet deadlines.
- All other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous sales or scrap buying experience.
- Working knowledge of scrap pricing, material identification, costs, operations, and transportation.
- Ability to generate and qualify leads and close deals.
- Ability to empathize with others with the intent of turning a difficult situation in to a positive outcome.
- Intermediate to expert level with Microsoft products, with ability to quickly learn new software programs.
- Ability to work independently and in team setting.
- Ability to prioritize while working multiple tasks with specific deadlines.
- Flexible schedule and travel required.
