The Cat Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) Marine team has an exciting opportunity for a Market Development Consultant. This position’s preferred location is in Houston, Texas, but can be located in either Mossville, Illinois; Griffin, Georgia; or Lafayette, Indiana based on successful candidate. As a Market Development Consultant, you will help build Customers for Life for Caterpillar by providing market driven insights toward Product Development, Engineering Requirements, and critical functional requirements for assigned Marine Product Lines. You will align and integrate marine product strategies to deliver strategic value to Caterpillar Marine supporting new product sales and enabling long term services growth. This is an ideal role for anyone looking to combine passions for technology and commercial interests. This role will be responsible to understand and integrate the value of all marine products.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as the primary interface between Marine marketing, marine dealers, and product engineering
- Works with Sales teams to development long term strategic product visions for growth
- Communicates these strategies internally and execute plans to bring these successful products to market
- Analyzes and understands available OPACC pools in marine industry and develop product strategies to win
- Develops and provides product-based training for new products to enable successful sales and technical launch
- Identifies global and regional marketing needs and provide content for materials
- Interacts with global dealers and Caterpillar sales teams to keep them updated on product developments and technologies
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience with a technical background or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical requirements and effectively communicate them to others or equivalent industry experience
Top Candidates will also have:
- Marine Industry experience in applicable market segments for Caterpillar Marine
- Caterpillar NPI or Product Development Experience
- Experience interacting with dealer network or end users
- Market Analysis experience for developing new concepts and products
- Ability to Travel internationally - Moderate Travel up to 15% max
- Strategic / visionary thinker required to develop products successful in our future
- Good communication and presentation skills
