TITLE Manufacturing Engineer

DEPARTMENT Manufacturing Engineering

SUPERVISOR Engineering Manager

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

Responsible for manufacturing processes, including quality control, from concept development

through to production implementation and continuous improvement as well as on-going production

support. The roles and responsibilities listed are not meant to be all inclusive. The needs of the

company may require individuals to perform other functions.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To support and ensure compliance with Company’s policy.

Have working knowledge of TS standards, AIAG Standards (PFMEA, APQP, MSA, CQI-9), Phased

PPAP, ES Specifications and other customer specific requirements

3 Generate machinery and tooling specifications for new and existing projects.

4 Improve work efficiency by analyzing work efficiency, downtime, man-hour and OEE.

Based on this result find solution or countermeasure to improve.

5 Assist with creation of new program core documentation. Including initial creation of PFEMA,

Control Plan, Special Characteristic agreement, Process Flow and acceptance boundary

documents. Creation of initial core tool will require insuring all items identified in DFMEA is

properly cascaded to PFEMA, Control Plan, and Special Characteristic agreement.

6 Responsible for initiating the procurement processes (i.e. establishing suppliers and obtaining

budgetary quotations) for such items. Procurement process includes generation of specifications

for equipment/facilities being procured.

7 Responsible for conducting machinery run-off/buy-off's for purchased machinery and tooling.

Duties include assuring conformance to specification, evaluating cycle time, assessing safety and

ergonomics and conducting process capability studies (Ppk, Cpk) prior to release to production.

8 Participate in cost savings activities. Including but not limited to, scrap reduction, OEE

improvement, cost reductions and utility usage reduction.

9 Support maintenance department activities for equipment and tooling (i.e. PM schedules, spare

part lists, etc.).

10 Participate in continuous improvement activities as they relate to machinery and tooling issues.

11 Work with MP&L and production to establish process flow and location of WIP, shipping carts and

shipping dunnage.

12 Participate in CFT meetings and support team objectives (i.e. layouts, APQP activities, continuous

improvement opportunities, etc.)

13 Participate in all required training and provide training to fellow team members as needed.

14 Good organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.

15 Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with various customers and co-workers

located in North America, Europe and Asia via e-mail and conference call is required.

16 Support for all manufacturing operations as designated, including off shifts.

17 Support and ensure compliance with current quality and environmental systems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

1 Engineering degree from an accredited university program or equivalent experience.

2 Minimum of 2 years work experience. Experience of at least 5 years in automotive is preferred.

3 Computer skills such as PowerPoint, Excel, Minitab and Autocad.

4 Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work in a team environment.

5 Strong project management skills are an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $48,061.06 - $55,000.00 per year
