And in curricular and co-curricular settings, it explores questions of meaning and purpose, developing a sensibility for interreligious leadership.
The Managing Director has the main responsibility for the administration and management of the programs and activities of the Interfaith Institute at Augsburg. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Managing Director stewards existing partnerships and programs while exploring opportunities for new partnerships and learning between the Augsburg community and a network of local and national interfaith partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategy to Support the Vision
- Support and manage the mission, vision, and outreach in collaboration with Executive Director.
- Review existing commitments and steward transition issues in the work of Interfaith at Augsburg.
- Work with Executive Director to support strategic planning process in partnership with appropriate Augsburg partners.
Building Partnerships & Networks
- Support Executive Director in strengthening the Institute's network on campus and beyond.
- Invest time in efforts to listen and learn from existing and potential partners.
- Collaborate with other departments on campus and with local interfaith partners around faculty, staff, and student program opportunities.
- Support Executive Director in coordinating with Institutional Advancement to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donor engagement.
Convening Learning
- Coordinate and oversee event planning related to the Interfaith Institute's learning events and gatherings.
- Innovate together with Executive Director ways to design learning opportunities for Augsburg students.
- Develop partnerships with faculty and staff on campus to utilize campus resources to facilitate learning with Interfaith partners on and off campus.
- Organize/lead forums, trainings, and other public speaking engagements as requested in order to share key learnings from the work of the Interfaith Institute.
- Oversee communications and database management including website, social media, and printed material.
Leading Effective & Engaged Teams
- Manage all staffing recruitment and hiring processes.
- Design and coordinate staff training and ongoing development.
- Create systems for team communication and productivity.
Planning & Budgeting
- Oversee and manage grant compliance as well as budgets.
- Maintain timelines, set project deadlines, and communicate expectations to the team.
- Support, manage and help design all administrative tasks (grant compliance, contract developments, invoicing, email communications, document organization, etc.).
Work environment and physical demands:
- Typical work environment is an office.
- Regular computer use.
- Sedentary work for long periods at a time.
- Long or irregular hours: late afternoons, weekday evenings, and some weekends.
- Travel within and outside the region.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating, and designing collaborative programs and partnerships, grant compliance, budget management, and supervision.
- Have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with credence the core commitments of the Augsburg Interfaith Institute to diverse learning partners.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Hold knowledge of and passion for the mission.
- Possess finely honed administrative abilities.
