AES is seeking a Manager, Execution Strategy to handle EPC engagement, planning and communication for our PV and Battery Storage projects. Reporting to the Director of Execution Strategy, this position will be responsible for crafting EPC Engagement plans with the Project Team, creating and maintaining relationships with new and existing EPCs, and working within AES teams to better track and capture qualification information on our EPC contractors.
The ideal candidate will be capable of coordinating and collaborating with multiple AES CE Teams, be proactive in project team meetings, and take ownership for ensuring the project’s successful and swift forward path through the EPC Engagement process. Prior experience in renewables development and/or construction, EPC business development, and other areas of the renewables sector strongly preferred.
This position will be ideally based in Colorado and will focus on both DG and utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Remote working is possible, with 20% travel will also be required.
Key Responsibilities:

Partnership Development
-
Assist in development of partnership-oriented contract strategy and terms with key EPC contractor partners.

Maintain health of specific EPC contractor relationships through tactful and transparent communication of company strategy and project details including scope and timelines for engagement.

EPC Qualification

Support in maintaining approved list of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors through collection of qualification and compliance documentation.

Support the development of standardized EPC contractor qualification documentation and processes.

Maintain internal database of EPC contractor partners according to current documentation and partner status.

Conduct interviews with EPC contractors to clarify areas of experience, interest, company structure, and strategy.

Coordinate with internal departments to progress EPC contractors through internal qualification and compliance processes.

Internal Communication/Coordination

Coordinate with internal departments to develop communicable project-specific pipeline projections for EPC partners.

Coordinate with internal departments to provide list of qualified EPC partners for project-specific pricing exercises in accordance with required project timelines.

Develop scope documents that align with EPC partner strategy.

Accurately convey EPC contractor experience, competencies, capacity, and strategy to internal departments to effectively communicate EPC contractor partner selection.

RFP Support

Assist in interpretation of EPC contractor pricing to identify areas for further clarification and investigation.

Assist in gathering additional project-specific details regarding pricing and EPC approach from EPC contractors.

Assist in EPC contractor partner project awards through providing input on contractor experience, competencies, capacity, and strategy to Preconstruction and Execution teams.

Gather feedback from Preconstruction and Execution project managers on current and past experience with EPC contractor partners and incorporate this feedback into EPC contractor qualification process.
Skills & Qualifications:

1-4 years related experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction or related field.

Understanding of renewable project lifecycle.

Understanding of and ability to converse on primary construction contract terms.

Proficiency with renewable project construction design drawing sets.

Proficient with MS Office suite, Quickbase, Box, Trello, and MS Teams.

Renewable project execution field experience preferred.

Experience in primary equipment procurement for renewable projects preferred.
