We have a new opportunity for a high-reaching and driven Manufacturing Manager to join our new cell therapy site in San Francisco.

How will you make an impact?

You will be responsible for the smooth running of our manufacturing facility while achieving delivery of targets through the effective management, development and coaching of a multifunctional team, identifying, and implementing continuous process improvements, team engagement and staff involvement.

What you will do?

  • Provides leadership to assigned manufacturing staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
  • Ensures safe, quality, and timely manufacture of biopharmaceutical product for pre-clinical, clinical, and commercial use
  • Ensures that all production operations are controlled and performed within GMP regulatory guidelines.
  • Enhance service levels and overall customer experience while maintaining an efficient and safe manufacturing environment
  • Lead a work stream within the manufacturing team of approximately 30 employees ensuring both individual and team’s annual goals are delivered
  • Deputize for senior manufacturing manager and be SME for your work stream handling customer audits/ visits etc. when required
  • Support other work streams within manufacturing where required and help to develop the optimum solution that is best for manufacturing overall
  • Effectively develop team members using situational leadership and performance management tools to ensure employees’ potential is achieved
  • Drive continuous improvement activities across the stream delivering productivity in a safe and effective manner while maintaining product quality
  • Improve overall customer experience through improved service levels.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in cell therapy operations in a highly regulated environment is desired
  • 5+ years of experience of leading teams and engaging customers

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a medium to large sized team
  • Previous experience of leading and delivering projects essential
  • Previous experience of leading a team effectively through significant change essential
  • Must be able to inspire and energize those around them with an optimistic positive approach to change
  • Ability to engage, coach, develop and performance management employees
  • Adopt the site continuous improvement tools to improve processes and solve problems
  • Experience with new facility start-up nice to have
  • Experience with biopharmaceutical drug development and clinical Manufacture. Commercial manufacture experience a plus. Experience with Cell Therapy manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and knowing when to delegate
  • Ability to work within cross functional teams and provide governance on project teams
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Expert knowledge of mammalian cell culture
  • Leadership of people in multi-disciplinary technical and scientific teams
  • Expert knowledge of regulatory guidelines: EU, US, Australian, ICH, etc.
  • Leader in Operational Excellence
  • Excellent MS Office skills

The salary range estimated for this position is $95,900-$146,450. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
