Job description

The Manager, Applications Development will lead a team of software developers and content managers in the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University to update and maintain content management systems and custom software applications. This position will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of up to 3 full-time application development staff and 1-2 student assistants, including recruitment and selection of new hires, onboarding and orientation activities, performance management and training.

This is a technical leadership position with the skillset to manage software development projects (development and customization) through project life cycles, manage team members’ efforts within projects, maintain stakeholder engagement, and ensure compliance with internal quality standards, organizational security, and accessibility standards.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

  • A college degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience; 5 years of relevant experience required; 10 years preferred.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle
  • Experience in application development / design using Angular, MVC, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, jQuery and other JavaScript Libraries
  • Experience with MS SQL Server for Database Design
  • Knowledge of n-tier architecture and Object-Oriented concepts / techniques
  • Experience in security and accessibility best practices in software design
  • Experience in in project management
  • Experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business and technical requirements
  • Experience in developing technical and user documentation
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be able to keep aware of technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends
  • Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

  • Experience with customizing and maintaining an enterprise content management system (Sitecore, WordPress, Umbraco)

The target hiring range for this position is $99,000 -$133,000 annually
