Job Title: MAMMOGRAPHY ASSISTANT MANAGER
Temple Health: Fox Chase Cancer Center & Jeanes Hospital
Job Information
- Status: Full-time (40hrs/wk)
- Shift/Schedule: Day Shift; 7:30A-4:00P

Job Summary
- Manages the daily operations of the Mammography Departments at Fox Chase Cancer Center, including Mobile Mammography services, TUH-Jeanes Campus Mammography, and DEXA services.
- Responsible for a wide variety of administrative, fiscal and technical activities and personnel.
- Manages the Mammography technical staff and clerical staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center and technical staff at TUH-Jeanes Campus.
- Responsible for maintaining ACR Accreditation at both locations.
- Ensures the quality of examinations performed by technical staff and coordinates scheduling of examinations with referring physicians and radiologists.
- Ensures MQSA, state and Joint Commission requirements are met.
- Manages employees in a firm, fair, and consistent manner to ensure that duties are performed efficiently and accurately.
- Maintains employee work schedules, attendance and payroll records.
- Organizes work flow and assigns employees according to those needs. Works with Mammography Manager on capital planning and annual budgets. Acts as Mammography Manager in their absence.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Non Degree Program: completion of AMA approved Radiology program (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- RT(M) - Reg Technologist (M) (Required)
- BLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
Experience
- 5 Years experience as a Mammography Technologist (Required)
- 1 Year experience in a supervisory role (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Actively participates in formal and in-service training programs and instructs in the demonstration of specific techniques and equipment.
- Effectively supervises the teaching of student technologists. Communicates progress of students to Clinical Instructors.
- Provides technical assistance to the staff physicians.
- Annually reviews and evaluates departmental procedures, patient protocol and instruction. Plans, monitors and maintains systems to ensure high quality control.
- Ensures that state and Joint Commission requirements are met and that department and staff are at all times survey ready.
Mammography Operations
- Continually ensures proper paperwork flow with technical staff and interfaces with reception and all areas. Reviews all requests for proper patient information and clinical data necessary for diagnosis and billing.
- Evaluates all the services of assigned sections maintaining maximum quality standards. Effectively monitors the technical staff and equipment to insure quality control.
- Effectively supervises computer scheduling in conjunction with Supervisor of Patient Services.
- Appropriately orders and maintains inventory controls of area supplies used by physicians and technologists, keeping in mind practical economic operation.
- Continually interfaces with file room functions in the task of obtaining comparison films and all other functions related to the incomplete (pending) report list.
- Always reports all incidents in writing to superiors and adheres to Radiation Safety, hospital and other code standards.
Diagnostic Imaging Management
- Evaluates all the diagnostic imaging services of assigned sections maintaining maximum quality standards.
- Develops, evaluates, updates and amends policy and procedures, updates patient protocol and patient instruction with the approval of the section staff radiologists. Keeps the staff informed of changes in writing.
- Ensures proper paperwork flow with technical staff and interfaces with reception and all other areas. Reviews all requests for proper patient information and clinical data necessary for diagnosis and billing.
- Supervises the computer scheduling in conjunction with Patient Registration.
- Interfaces with the file room functions in the task of obtaining comparison films and all other functions related to the incomplete (pending) report list.
- Works with Radiology IT Support to ensure accuracy of all procedure data, patient ID, to ensure all studies exist on the network.
- Orders and maintains inventory controls of area supplies used by physician and technologists, keeping in mind a practical economic operation.
Diagnostic Imaging Supervision & Training
- Schedules technical staff to develop accomplished technologists in all relevant areas of diagnostic imaging.
- Participates in formal and in-service training programs and instructs in the demonstration of specific techniques and equipment.
- Supervises the teaching of the student technologist while in area and discusses student progress with the clinical instructor.
- Monitors the technical staff and equipment to insure quality control. Maintains equipment file logging downtime and other related problems.
