Designated as a LA STEM Regional STEM Network Center by the Louisiana Board of Regents in 2020, the Capital Area STEM Network Center re-imagines how business and community partners can work together to provide quality STEM education throughout a youth's lifetime in the Region 2 area and far beyond. Capital Area STEM is hosted by the LSU Cain Center for STEM Literacy. The Capital Area STEM Network Center is committed to building strong foundations for STEM literacy, interest and achievement; increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM; better preparing a STEM workforce for Louisiana; and measuring outcomes. The vision of the Capital Area STEM Network (CASN) is to ensure that ALL students have equal access to college and career readiness pathways through workforce-aligned and STEM-focused content, experiences, and resources. CASN will use a collaborative partnership approach, leveraging resources to accomplish the following goals: 1) Increase student interest, participation, and achievement in college and career readiness programs (among underserved students); 2) Increase the number of effective educators and leaders in all settings; 3) Increase meaningful business and community engagement; and 4) Increase broad family and community support for college and career readiness programs as a priority for Louisiana’s Region 2 citizens. Key to the success of the project will be to extend standards-based and career exploratory outreach activities to underserved children and youth and their families that will build greater awareness of the value of STEM education and the role it plays in successful college and career preparation.



Member Duties : The Stakeholder Engagement Summer Associate will develop and implement experiences for stakeholder engagement with stakeholders. Gather and report relevant data on all activities for grants, presentations or for soliciting donations and financial support for CASN. Participate in regional workforce development meetings and assist with strategy sessions.
