Manager

REPORTS TO: VP of Supply Chain
Scope:
The Global Logistics Manager is responsible for the management of global product movement. The position oversees global air, ocean, truck and rail transportation, with primary focus on USA operations and in support of all international locations. Maintain daily communications with Victaulic’s internal departments, divisions/subsidiaries, warehouse, branches/distribution, suppliers, carriers, and freight forwarders. The Global Logistic Manager is responsible for developing and realizing global strategies for Logistics that deliver Supply Assurance and Value Optimization.
Key Objectives
:
Develop/implement a program for managing the cost and reliability of in/outbound Domestic and International Freight.- Develop and implement key performance metrics and drive improvement efforts for Domestic and International Transportation.
- Maximize the efficiency and minimize the costs of all Domestic and International Transportation.
Performance Metrics:
Benchmark Spend Analysis by Mode, Inbound and Outbound Freight Costs (Normalized to Purchase and Sales Volumes)- On-Time Delivery, Transportation lead-times, Customer Satisfaction for Domestic Freight
Responsibilities:
Manage all Domestic and International Logistics requirements and opportunities.- Develop and implement progressive solutions in all elements of Domestic and International Logistics, including traffic, transportation, and import/export compliance.
- Analyze current and projected levels of activity and methods of shipment to ensure that we utilize the most effective means.
- Negotiate favorable contracts utilizing our consolidated Domestic and International freight volume and spend.
- Evaluate and consider alternatives in the following areas:
Truckload (T/L) and Less-than-Truckload (LTL) shipments
Interplant transportation network
Branch Distribution & Redistribution
- Domestic and International Supplier Selection and Contract Negotiation participation (transportation)
- Maintenance of data on transportation regulations, tariffs, classifications, and rates to ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory provisions and agencies
- Design and distribute management information reports for cost information, savings, productivity, vendor performance, etc.
- Responsible for meeting or exceeding departmental budget and profitability objectives in the area of Domestic and International Logistics and Transportation.
- Actively support our trade compliance processes on imports/exports and uphold continued development of corporate programs working in collaboration with the Trade Compliance Department
Qualifications: (Education, Experience, and Personal Attributes)
Minimum B.S/B.A. degree.- Minimum five years of managerial experience in Domestic and International Logistics or a related field.
- Knowledge of IMO/DOT/IATA regulations
- Self-starter - Must be responsible, reliable, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to interact with a wide range of people – from customers to department heads; from shop floor to the CEO of the organization.
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability.
- Project Management experience.
- Willing to make infrequent overnight travel.
