Job description

  • Ensures equipment is running properly after turning on power and notifies the leadman or supervisor of any mechanical problems
  • Runs all logs to backstop; checks first piece of lumber to ensure proper lengths that is displayed on log processor optimizer. Repeats check at middle and end of shift
  • Check saws and lasers for any operational issues
  • Lock/Tag and Try equipment before cleaning even end rollers and singulator pockets. Must be willing to get dirty and work in tight areas with minimum room for mobility.
  • Keep lasers and photocells clean form debris and ensures that they are working properly
  • Keep booths clean by sweeping floor and wiping down panels
  • Keeps catwalk and surrounding work area clear of all trash and debris
  • Cleans up when sawmill is down
  • Assist with maintenance when needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. at least 5 times during an eight hour shift
  • Sweeps up saw dust and chips with push broom
  • Picks up scraps of wood, vines and bark with shovel, rake or by hand
  • Paints various plant equipment and material (barriers, framework, guards, etc.)
  • Mops floors, scrubs sinks, toilets, water fountains, and other equipment with brushes and rags
  • Washes windows using brushes and rags
  • Follows Company policies, procedures and safety rules

Experience

Preferred
  • 1 year(s): 1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, rules, signs, and memos 2. Ability to count and perform simple mathematical calculations 3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions 4. Preferred at least one year of multitasking with heavy logging equipment or log merchandiser skills
