Our Middletown, CT, office has an opening for a LiDAR/Survey Technician. AIE currently implements the latest technology in our survey services, including laser scanners, drones, artificial intelligence, advanced computer processing, and more. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about conventional and non-traditional survey methods.

All levels of experience are encouraged to apply. We are willing to train interested and qualified individuals. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of surveying experience, with laser scanning experience preferred. Also desired is experience with aerial and/or mobile LiDAR, unmanned aerial systems/drones, geographic information systems, boundary and topographic surveys, bridge/structure and roadway surveys, construction surveying, and land records research.
Responsibilities:
- Perform scans/surveys of state, municipal and private infrastructure, such as building and facility sites, open land, development sites, roadways, bridges, streetscapes, residential and commercial developments and construction sites in urban and rural areas.
- This position requires both field and office work. Candidates must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Candidates should be able to work well in a team setting as well as independently when using laser scanners, drones, survey instruments, etc. on assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of general surveying, mapping, and/or related experience.
- Knowledge of survey equipment, such as a robotic total station, is highly desirable.
- Experience with point cloud processing software, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/Bentley ORD, TopoDOT, and Leica suite is desired, but not required.
- Good problem-solving abilities in both the field and office. Ability to work both independently and interact well with the team, staff, clients, subcontractors, etc.
- High school education or equivalent is required, AS and/or BS is preferred. NICET II is an acceptable substitute.
- Certified Survey Technician (CST) is a plus.
- Willingness to obtain FAA Part 107 license for drone use preferred.
- A valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
