The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has two openings for Licensed Practical Nurses/Instructional Assistants.

At the present time, two Licensed Practical Nurse vacancies exist within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit, located either at the Gordon Early Literacy Center in Coatesville, PA or Schuylkill Elementary in Phoenixville, PA. These candidates will work with preschool age students ages 3-5 with multiple disabilities.

Qualifications:

• Valid LPN license required.
• Experience working with special needs children preferred.
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required (must be dated within one year of hire date).

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform nursing duties as licensed to include, but not limited to:

• Ride bus to and from school with student
• Administer tube feedings
• Implement seizure precautions and treatments
• Provide Tracheostomy Care and if needed, replacement of tracheostomy tube
• Help/lift students in/out of equipment
• Change diapers and assist in toileting routines
• Provide assistances in feeding students
• Provide first aid and emergency care for accidental injuries and illnesses.
• Administering medications as prescribed by a doctor
• Implement nursing care plans as prescribed

2. Assist Teacher:

• Preparing instructional materials
• Maintaining discipline and other behavior management functions
• Arranging the learning environment
• Assembling, adjusting, and maintaining equipment and technology used in the instructional program
• Administering educational assessments
• Performing other duties as assigned

3. Assist Students:

• Working with individual students or small groups on activities assigned by the teacher
• Assisting, within constraints of specific program regulations, in the supervision of students during non-instructional times throughout the day such as lunchtime, entering or exiting the building, etc.

Schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 7.5 hours per day; 175 days per year.

Salary:

$21.05 - $26.31 per hour
