Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $61,022.00 per year but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.
Lead Web Designer:
The successful IDOC Lead Web Designer will have an analytical mind and a detailed understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The Lead Web Designer is expected to have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, as well as excellent content creation and writing skills.
A day in the life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Use analytics to help make data-driven decisions about website content, design, and modifications.
- Plan, implement, manage, monitor and upgrade the organization's website.
- Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues.
- Identify and respond to all website security breaches.
- Ensure that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.
- Update HTML, CSS and JavaScript regularly.
- Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
- Create appropriate website content aligned to the organization’s strategy.
- Ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
- Improve the User Experience of the website regularly.
- Collaborate with all staff and management to ensure that the website aligns with agency strategy and meets the organization’s standards.
- Recommend strategies to grow subscriber base and web traffic metrics.
- Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with industry best practice and monitor other state agency and private websites.
- Perform other duties and essential functions as assigned.

What we are looking for:
- Associates degree in a computer related field of study and/or minimum three years practical job related experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of projects and work output.
- Highly proficient in HTML, XHTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Access, mySQL and JavaScript.
- Creation of multimedia presentations (using Adobe Flash and HTML 5), and education and training on cutting-edge web technologies.
- Responsible for the development, verification, and coding of electronic media
- Creation of new websites for the agency
- Review and publishing of all approved content and materials on the IDOC Internet and Extranet websites
- Creation of graphics (including banners, bumper stickers, and widgets) for all agency websites.
- Strong eye for design and visual language, ability to translate information into soundbites for digital platforms.
- Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram.
- A strong customer service orientation, with an ability to work independently and effectively prioritize a variety of projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
