We have a unique opening at the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center on the campus of NHTI in Concord. As a laboratory school, the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center is a demonstration setting for best practices in early childhood education, with student teachers working alongside staff in classrooms.
We are seeking energetic, organized, and experienced early childhood educators to help students grow in the field while providing a high-quality, emergent curriculum for young children. We currently have an opening for a full-time, Lead Preschool Teacher position. Responsibilities include curriculum development, child observations, and assessments, mentoring practicum students, and building relationships with young children and their families. Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center and teaching lab serves children from 6 weeks-kindergarten.

Duties
Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of early childhood outcomes:
- Respond sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children, interact positively with children, and encourages exploration, use positive child guidance strategies.
- Plans and outlines curriculum-adapting activities to meet the individual needs of young children and their families.
- Plans, prepares, coordinates, and oversees developmentally appropriate, emergent curriculum.
Provides guidance and role modeling to Club members.
- Responsible for program development and implementation.
Establishes and maintains program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.
- Ensures the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verifies that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
- Uses child observation notes as a tool for curriculum planning, and keeps accurate and up-to-date records.
- Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards and CCLU rules.
- Dispenses medications according to company policy, administers first aid as needed; communicates this to families.
- Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well-being and upkeep.
Supervision
Oversees proper record keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted in MTS.
- Supervises classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provides regular feedback about job performance. Assists director with annual staff evaluation.
- Oversees practicum students, and models techniques, and strategies that connect theory to practice.
- Leads planning meetings with the teaching team.
- Increases visibility of Club programs via daily schedule postings, announcements of upcoming events through different social media channels, family emails, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: An Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field and 2 years of experience in Early Childhood Education in a similar position.
Additional education can be a substitute for work experience.
1. Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, teaching principles, and techniques.
2. Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
3. Ability to communicate in a variety of ways. (written and verbal)
4. Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
5. Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior guidance.
6. Ability to supervise teaching staff and practicum students.
