Lead Maintenance Technician at Peoples St. James Apartments
We are seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to help us keep our property running smoothly. Our ideal candidates will lead our maintenance department, and will jump in and work alongside the team. Must enjoy working with people and have a passion for customer service!
The Job: Our Lead Maintenance Technicians oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Leading maintenance team in regards to performance, job duties, and scheduling
- Portray excellent customer service while working with residents
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various issues including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, sheet rock, etc.
- Monitor and replenish maintenance inventory based on property needs, while staying within budget
- Complete on-going property and unit inspections as needed, in addition to documenting updates and areas for improvement
- Coordinate with various vendors as needed in regards to outsourced work at the property
- Ensure that maintenance teams deliver Safe, Decent and Sanitary Housing to all our residents

Additional Information:
- The work schedule is Monday-Friday
- Must be available for after hour calls including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Valid driver's license and vehicle is required
- Employment with Monroe Group is contingent upon the successful completion of background check ***
REQUIREMENTS for consideration are:
- High School diploma or equivalent,(College Degree is preferred)
- Minimum of two (2) years as a Maintenance Tech
- Working Knowledge of Onsite or Yardi Software
- English language proficiency (read, speak and write)
- The ability to pass a full background check
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of maintenance technician including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and appliance repair knowledge
- At least 1 year of experience in an affordable housing environment preferred
EQUIPMENT USED
- Hand, power and specialty tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The employee will be exposed to indoor and outdoor work environments with frequent exposure to odors, waste, insects, pests and occasional exposure to confined spaces. The noise level changes on a consistent basis.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, grasp with both hands, or feel; substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; reaching and pulling with hands and arms.
- Prolonged standing. Occasional walking is required for short distances.
- Ability to consistently move/drag/lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include having accurate color vision
- Frequent stretching out of arms, and use of upper body.
- Occasional turning and twisting at the waist.
- Noise level is moderate.
