Lead Machine Learning Engineer
Job description
Rocket Travel is looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to build scalable end-to-end data science solutions for our data products. You will work with data engineers, data scientists, and application developers to build machine learning and deep learning models and deploy them to production environments.
The Data Science Team at Rocket oversees building internal-facing decision making tools and product-facing production models that aid in scaling our growing business.

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Rocket Travel, you get to:
- Own the MLOps life-cycle and ensure high availability and performance of our machine learning applications. Independently establish technical requirements for various machine learning initiatives by collaborating with data scientists, data engineers and software engineers
- Build and operate complex, end-to-end, machine learning pipelines and design production APIs and data delivery processes
- Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of machine learning applications using both established and new technology platforms
- Leverage continuous integration and deployment best practices to ensure successful deployment of ML models and application code
- Actively participate in building and deploying innovative, production-grade ML services. Improve logging, monitoring, and alarming of Rocket's ML services
- Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Software Engineers to establish technical requirements for a range of machine learning initiatives
- Follow industry best practices, stay up-to-date with the latest research, and extend the state of the art in machine learning
About you:
- Minimum of 4 years of programming experience with Python and SQL
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with an industry-recognized ML framework, such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow
- Minimum of 3 years of experience productionizing, monitoring, and maintaining ML models. Bonus points if you have worked with MLflow, java/scala and/or AWS
- Extensive experience in developing and deploying data science solutions in real-world scenarios, including but not limited to: deep natural language processing models and learning to rank models
- Strong engineering mindset and understanding of software engineering principles, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and distributed systems
- Intellectually curious and self-directed problem solver, keen to work on a variety of data projects and independently search for answers
- Clear and effective communicator with both technical and non-technical team members
