Your role as a Lead 3D Character Artist / Art Director

OBSKUR, recently acquired by Movella, is seeking an experienced Lead 3D Character Artist / Art Director to aid in creating the best interactive VTuber system powered by Xsens, and our inhouse applications, integrations, and MMO metaverse games.

You will be part of the OBSKUR art team and report to the Product Line Director. This is a fully remote position. You’ll get the opportunity to learn advanced pipelines for Stylized/Anime UE4 realtime characters.

This is a remote position with US pacific time zone core hours.

Key challenges :

• Establish an artistic direction, vision, and high production standards for the creation of avatar experiences across different platforms.
• Lead in the collaborative development of conceptual artwork, models, sketches, storyboards, and project pitches which define and convey their artistic vision.
• Create Character Concepts (Concept Art & Creative).
• Oversee all multi-platform creative (including but not limited to, events, graphics, social media content, etc.), to drive development, audience engagement and brand awareness.
• Create, advance, and iterate facial ArKit/FACS blendshapes. Critique and lead our team of artists.

Movella is looking for a self-starting 3D Character Artist with Art Direction skills. Someone who thrives in an environment where your passion for innovation and teamwork are highly appreciated. You have:

• 5+ years of professional 3D character art production experience
• Experience as Senior, Lead, or Principal Character Artist having contributed to 1+ AAA title or broadcast animation (or comparable high-fidelity title)
• Proven ability to manage both internal and external artists and demonstrable experience holding others to quality standards
• Strong art portfolio required
• Advanced skills in Maya and/or Blender
• Attention to detail in Modeling/Topology and Appeal
• Excellent sense of human anatomy, shape, proportions, and silhouette
• Creative mindset, with the Twitch audience in mind
• Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills
• Strong knowledge of rigging, skinning, and unreal asset export
• Strong knowledge of FACS blendshapes

Preferable

• Experience creating content for streamers and understand the Unreal Engine content pipeline.
• Expertise in Unreal Engine shading and lighting; proficiency in various shader techniques
• Zbrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter
• Hard-surface modeling
• Knowledge of PBR based workflows
• Understanding of RBF solvers
