Under the direction of the Director of Product Engineering Center the Rig Test & Laboratory Technician performs rig testing to validate our piston designs.

In addition to the rig test set up and operation, the tooling and part drawings must be calculated and created.

The Lab Technician portion of this role includes general support in the lab.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Set up and run testing of pin boss strength under Pulsator Gas Force and Inertia Load Tests, which is a test to simulate engine pressure.

• Set up and run Mechanical Skirt Fatigue, which simulates the side load on the skirts of the pistons.

• Perform tensile testing.

• Perform calculations to create the tooling and parts needed for rig testing.

• Document testing results and generate reports.

• Support and consulting of worldwide rig testing activities, organize and conduct round-robin tests within the organization

• Cleaning parts for post-test review using ultrasonic cleaning or soda blasting.

• Cut parts for material investigation.

• Perform hardness checks for non-ferrous products.

• Operation of heat treat oven.

• Initiate work orders for lab supplies and maintenance.

• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.

• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
