How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
As a Laboratory Manager at the Pasadena Texas Airgas Specialty Gases facility, you will supervise a staff of Chemists and Laboratory Technicians that produce high precision specialty gas calibration standards for Airgas and Air Liquide customers worldwide. You will become an expert in specialty gas manufacturing and quality procedures in a highly technical and specialized industry.
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment in the laboratory
  • Ensure the quality of specialty gas calibration standards prepared for our customers. Coordinate incoming raw material inspections
  • Organize and implement scheduled training activities for all laboratory associates, according to company policies.
  • Use Airgas scheduling tools to organize work flow in the laboratory
  • Help maintain the facilities ISO-9001 and 17025 accreditation and assist with internal and external audit activities.
  • Investigate internal and external quality related non-conformances
  • Audit and maintain laboratory quality records according to company policies Manage and approve laboratory employee time off requests
  • Administer maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment

Are you a MATCH?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field with experience handling hydrocarbon samples.
  • Previous leadership experience in a Lab environment preferred
  • Experience in performing chemical analyses, with such methods as Gas Chromatography, FTIR, IR, or other methods. Minimum of 2 years experience preferred
  • Understanding of chemical compounds, production methods, handling of specialty gases and calibration techniques
  • Analytical and problem solving skills; ability to accurately resolve problem mixtures and interpret analytical data regarding various compounds
  • Computer skills (including word processing and database software applications and scientific instrument software)
  • Experience with ISO9001 and ISO17025 preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills
  • Ability to cross train in other functions of the production facility
  • Able to lift 40lbs required
