Job description
Jovial Concepts works to alleviate poverty by empowering the youth in our community with regenerative food systems, seed preservation, and cooking education. WE do this by creating food scapes, food hubs and community gardens since 2009. We coordinate and plan the growing of local produce with partnered farms for children at risk of hunger to address health disparities such as diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, and build healthy immune systems against Covid-19. We donate about 5,000lbs of fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need each year. This year we have received a 9 acre orchard to maintain.
Member Duties : Build Capacity of our community participation in school gardens, back yard gardens, and at our 9 acre community orchard and garden space. Create educational materials to provide to the community on basic permaculture/zero waste principles and food system knowledge. Lastly, emphasize the importance of decolonizing, back to traditional fruit and veggie filled diets, through the development of materials (brochures, flyers) and interactive audio.
