As an Assistant Camp Director, you will help campers engage, learn, and play and get the very most out of their summer experience! In this role, you will support the overall daily operations and help organize events for outdoor camp like Theme Activity Fridays! Day to day you will ensure tasks are completed supporting camp counselors, educate campers about health and safety, design recreational activities, and improve the overall camp experience. With keen attention to detail, the Assistant Camp Director will assist with administrative work, implement daily schedules, and maintain accurate attendance records. As Assistant Camp Director you are positive, proactive, and enjoy encouraging campers to explore and learn in an outdoor setting.
To thrive in the position, you must have proven experience in a camp leadership role and the ability to communicate with children and adults from a variety of backgrounds. You should feel comfortable addressing large groups, make decisions in a fast-paced environment with daily changes, and be able to prioritize and organize work in a way that produces results and supports the operations of camp. - Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must obtain within three months and maintain the following certifications: Community CPR, First Aid; Safety, and Child Abuse Neglect Prevention; & YMCA Day Camp Director Training
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
