Summary:

  • The main function of an inventory analyst is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to the production schedule.
  • A typical inventory analyst is responsible for reviewing and distributing production, work and shipment schedules and compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformation to standards and specifications.
  • Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.
  • Record production data, including volume, production, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures.
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Revise production schedule, when required, due to design changes, labor or material shortages or other interruptions.
  • Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments.

Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze costs related to manufacturing, labor, and materials.
  • Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
  • Basic mentoring skills are necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and production.
  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience required.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group:

  • This position collaborates with suppliers to ensure the execution of planned orders and schedules and resolves issues with suppliers to ensure material availability for facility production.
  • The incumbent works with the facility production schedulers and operations personnel to support facility production and point-of-use material availability.
  • Ensures alignment of facility inventory accuracy and inventory systems planning parameters with the plan for every part to maintain planning integrity.

Typical Day in the Role:

  • Incumbent ensures the timely delivery of materials to the facility, collaborating with suppliers to coordinate deliveries, shipping schedules and work schedules to meet facility production plans.
  • Using supplier collaboration technologies collaborate with suppliers and operations to plan the delivery of material for production.
  • Actively collaborates with suppliers to perform root cause corrective actions to resolve quality and supplier performance issues.
  • This work may require planning for alternate manufacturing methods.
  • This position analyzes established parts schedules and production requirements, converting requirements into appropriate piece parts, requisitioning the materials, regulating inventory levels, and issuing work orders.
  • Incumbent manages and performs supplier scheduling and implementation of engineering changes for the efficient manufacture of products and components.
  • This position supports supply chain performance efforts by monitoring and tracking supplier performance metrics.
  • Incumbent performs work to improve point-of-use material availability, applying root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provides Material Planning expertise to facility functions in support of improving demand variability, forecast credibility and usability for production planning.
  • Candidates must be able to work on-site.

Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Microsoft office (excel), MRP experience General knowledge of production scheduling and capacity management.
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot the MRP, Log net and MTS systems.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in material control, purchasing, parts distribution, inventory control, manufacturing engineering, operations and transportation or logistics desired.

Salary: $11.80 - $26.00 per hour
