We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Controls Technician with expertise in Allen Bradley and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Natural Gas Analyzers. As an essential member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our clients’ control systems and natural gas analyzers. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background, hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and knowledge of natural gas analysis techniques.
Responsibilities:
1. Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems, including Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, natural gas analyzers, and associated equipment.
2. Design, implement, and modify control systems to optimize process performance and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
3. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of control systems to identify potential issues and minimize downtime.
4. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement control strategies for new projects or system upgrades.
5. Perform diagnostic tests, collect and analyze data, and make recommendations for corrective actions to resolve equipment malfunctions or performance deviations.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives, reliability programs, and process optimization efforts.
7. Provide technical support and training to operations personnel on the proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems and equipment.
8. Stay updated on the latest advancements in control system technology, PLC programming techniques, and natural gas analysis methods, and apply that knowledge to enhance system performance.
9. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in the execution of job duties.
10. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including equipment records, maintenance logs, and calibration reports.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical certifications or relevant trade school diploma is preferred.
2. Proven experience working as an Instrumentation and Controls Technician in an industrial setting, preferably in the natural gas or oil industry.
3. Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, including programming, troubleshooting, and configuring I/O modules.
4. Familiarity with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software.
5. Experience with natural gas analyzers, including knowledge of gas chromatography, calorimetry, and other analytical techniques.
6. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and instrumentation drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and control system documentation.
7. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex control system issues and implement effective solutions.
8. Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in an industrial environment.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, or be on-call as needed to support operational requirements.
