Job Description:

• An IP Coder performs quality analysis and assignment of ICD-10-CM and PCS codes as well as MS-DRG, OSHPD, HAC, and/or POA indicator assignment to all patient account types according to the American Hospital Association (AHA), Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS), and American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines. The IP Coder codes a variety of patient charts meeting all regulatory guidelines and standards applicable in the coding industry as needed.

Job Duties:

• Abstract pertinent information from patient records. Assign the appropriate diagnosis and procedural codes (and modifiers), following client-specific and regulatory guidelines
• Obtain and maintain acceptable productivity/quality rates as defined per coding policy
• Maintain required coding credentials during the course of employment and keep abreast of coding guidelines
• Contribute to the general efficiency of the HIM coding department by, without limitation, submitting daily reports of work completion and productivity to project management
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures and support the Mission and Core Values of AE & Associates, LLC
• Perform at a minimum 95% accuracy of audited charts
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certified coding credential
• Two (2) years inpatient medical coding experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) system experience
• Encoder experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
